The Belgrade District Court Special Department on Wednesday found 41 persons accused of being part of the so-called Road Mafia guilty. They were sentenced to a total of 131 years and 10 months in prison. "Road Mafia" defendants get 131 yrs in jail The defendants were found giulty of withholding part of the money collected from road tolls, robbing Serbia's public road company Putevi Srbije of RSD 85.7mn (some EUR 6.5mn) in the process. Nine of the accused were acquitted, while three died during the trial proceedings, reports said. Milan Jovetic, employed with Putevi Srbije's internal control, and who was singled out as the group's organizer, received the highest jail term of six years. He and other defendants were ordered to repay the stolen money to the company.
