NOVI SAD Vojvodina’s Agriculture Secretary Goran Jesic has said that he will release results of milk analyses today and that somebody will have to be held responsible. “They texted me the analysis from the state lab! I will release it tomorrow, as soon as the official results are here! Someone is bound to go to jail,” he wrote on his Twitter account on Wednesday. “Someone will go to prison over milk contamination” Jesic told B92 on Wednesday that he would release results of milk analyses every week. He added that the Agriculture Ministry should say why it removed certain milk products from stores if they were not contaminated. “The state and the minister are not serious enough, there is no serious strategy. However, the problem can be solved, the price should be paid by the state as the most responsible one and dairies because they have the biggest profit, certainly not farmers,” he believes. Agriculture Minister Goran Knezevic said on Wednesday that the Democratic Party (DS), whose member is Jesic, was using the aflatoxin scare to try and topple the government. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) accused Jesic of being a “ward heeler” and that the results he had released had come from Viktoria Group, a company owned by businessman Milja Babovic. “Let them say who is a ward heeler now considering that their minister used to order analyses from the same laboratory,” Jesic pointed out. The Becej-based laboratory has confirmed it has performed milk analyses at the request of the Vojvodina Agriculture Secretariat.
