The government’s European Integration Office says progress has been made after 53 percent of legal commitments were met in the first three months of the year. According to the office’s report adopted by the government, only 29 percent of undertaken obligations had been met by the end of last year. Of 68 planned regulations vital to Serbia’s EU integration, 36 were adopted in the first quarter, it is stated. The office states that the ministries adopted all acts stipulated within the national program, while the government rubber-stamped 23 out of the envisaged 36 draft laws. Office Director Milica Delevic explained that Serbia owed this success rate to the large number of sub-legal acts adopted by the government and ministries. “Of the planned 36, the government rubber-stamped 23 laws, of which parliament has adopted eight. It is important that as a whole, we have moved further than in the previous period, and that we track this mechanism over the next three months too, in the hope of a good result,“ said Delevic.
