Over 3,000 prisoners could receive amnesty in Bulgaria, states a new draft law that has been approved on its first reading by the Bulgarian parliament Friday. The proposal has been filed by the country's cabinet and its goal is to lighten up the judiciary system. It will affect three categories of people who are currently behind bars. Bulgaria plans amnesty of 3,000 convicts Those who have committed crimes that would lead to three to five years in prison will be relived of criminal responsibility. Also prison sentences will be shortened by five years for those who have spent 15 years behind bars and two years less for those who have served ten to 15. The law applies to those sentenced and have been serving the sentence as the law comes into force.
