Two witness subpoenaed in Gotovina trial
The Hague Tribunal has subpoenaed two witnesses in the trial of Croatian Generals Ante Gotovina, Mladen Markač, and Ivan Čermak.

The Hague Tribunal has subpoenaed two witnesses in the trial of Croatian Generals Ante Gotovina, Mladen Markac, and Ivan Cermak. One of the witnesses is Special Police Commander Zdravko Janic, while the other is to receive protective measures. The protected witness, who was allegedly a member of the Knin civil police, is due to appear before the court on June 25, and Janic on July 3. There are unconfirmed reports that Janic is due to give testimony about an incident in the hamlet of Grubori u Plavnu near Knin, where nine Serb civilians were massacred on August 26, 1995. Janic was at the time head of the special police’s anti-terrorist sector, and commanded the front line of attack and cleansing operations during Operation Storm, says the Hague Tribunal.
