China and Russia are teaming up: In two days...

The maneuvers called "Maritime Interaction-2022" will be held from December 21 to 27, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.

The announcement states that a detachment of warships of the Pacific Fleet has already left Vladivostok to participate in exercises.

On the Russian side, the Russian cruiser "Varyag", the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov", the corvettes "Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov" and "Perfect" are involved. The Chinese side will use two destroyers and patrol ships, an integrated supply ship and a diesel submarine.

It is added that during the active part of the exercises, joint anti-submarine operations are planned with the practical use of weapons. The Ministry stated that the main goal of the maneuver was to strengthen maritime cooperation between Russia and China, as well as "maintaining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region."

Joint exercises of the armed forces of the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held in the Chelyabinsk Region in 2023. The maneuvers, called "Peace Mission", are scheduled for August. In addition to the Russian Federation and China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will take part in them.
