Ukraine’s National Security Council has suggested imposing martial law, while Russia has asked for an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council.

The tension between Russia and Ukraine comes over the situation in the Sea of Azov. Russian Coast Guard boats (on Sunday) seized three Ukrainian military vessels in the Black Sea near Crime, as they were trying to cross the Kerch Straits.

The Russian side used weapons to force the ships to stop.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) said that three Ukrainian soldiers were wounded during the incident.

The Ukrainian Navy announced that it had sent two small artillery ships had a tug boat from Odessa to Mariupol, which required them to travel around Crimea along the Black Sea, and through Kerch into the Azov Sea.

Moscow also announced that its warplanes and that Su-25 are now patrolling over the straits, Russian media are reporting on Monday.
