Engineers in the Fukushima Daiichi complex are struggling to seal a crack in the Unit 2 reactor and stop radioactive water from leaking into the Pacific Ocean. The Tokyo Electric power Company (TEPCO) confirmed on Sunday two of its employees missing since the March 11 disaster had been found dead in a basement, presumably killed by the tsunami. Japanese engineers struggle to stop radiation leak The workers died of multiple injuries only an hour after the quake hit, Kyodo news agency reported. Meanwhile, Japan’s Agency for Nuclear and Industrial Safety has said the amount of water leaking into the Pacific remained the same and that the engineers will try to seal the crack in a maintenance pit that is spewing water into the sea with a polymer, in order to prevent more contaminated water from leaking.
