Serbia to pay interest rate, court costs to Mladić’s family

The First Municipal Court in Belgrade has ordered the state of Serbia to pay interest rate and court costs in the case of seized money to Ratko Mladić’s family.

The First Municipal Court in Belgrade has ordered the state of Serbia to pay interest rate and court costs in the case of seized money to Ratko Mladic’s family. The court accepted Darko and Bosiljka Mladic’s request to reimburse the interest rate for the period since the money was seized on February 23, 2010 until it was returned on June 1, 2011, First Municipal Court in Belgrade Spokeswoman Gordana Vukovic has said. Serbia to pay interest rate, court costs to Mladic’s family She pointed out that the state should pay interest rate on EUR 12,600 to Darko Mladic and on EUR 1,960 to Bosiljka Mladic, adding that the Mladic’s had given up on their request to have EUR 14,560 returned since the state had returned them the money two days after the Hague indictee had been arrested on May 26. The court also ordered the state, i.e. Serbian police (MUP) to pay court costs worth RSD 169,000 to Darko and Bosiljka Mladic. The state has the right to file an appeal within 15 days after it receives the court decision. The state claimed the money was seized in order to prevent financing of Ratko Mladic’s hiding. She pointed out that the state should pay interest rate on EUR 12,600 to Darko Mladić and on EUR 1,960 to Bosiljka Mladić, adding that the Mladić’s had given up on their request to have EUR 14,560 returned since the state had returned them the money two days after the Hague indictee had been arrested on May 26.

The court also ordered the state, i.e. Serbian police (MUP) to pay court costs worth RSD 169,000 to Darko and Bosiljka Mladić.

The state has the right to file an appeal within 15 days after it receives the court decision.

The state claimed the money was seized in order to prevent financing of Ratko Mladić’s hiding.
