An estimated 20,000 to 30,000 people gathered in downtown Belgrade late on Monday to meet Serbia's recent winners of world gold and silver medals.

An estimated 20,000 to 30,000 people gathered in downtown Belgrade late on Monday to meet Serbia's recent winners of world gold and silver medals. In Rome last week at the World Swimming Championship swimmer Milorad Cavic won gold and silver medals, while swimmer Nadja Higl and Serbia's national water polo team became world champions. Thousands welcome world, Euro champs The crowd in front of the Belgrade city hall also welcomed the national junior basketball team, which won the gold medal at the European Championship in France. The athletes first rode in an open bus from the Ada Ciganlija river island to the assembly building, followed by several dozen cars.
