Members of a nationalist group last night tried to disrupt a presentation of Pescanik radio program in Pancevo. The program, popular but at the same time criticized for its approach to matters seen as crucial for Serbia's national interests, is aired on B92 Radio. Late last year, another group in the central Serbian town of Arandjelovac tried and managed to prevent a presentation there. Liberal radio show runs into fresh trouble Last night, one of the program's regular guests, Srdja Popovic, told the audience in the town just north of Belgrade that he believed there was a continuity of the policy toward Albanians since October 5, 2000, and "especially since Vojislav Kostunica is the head of the government". A dozen young men reacted to this and attempted to take the microphone by force, reports from the event said. But the participants and the audience did not wish to allow them to speak. Police who secured the building then entered the premises. Officers warned the men not to disrupt the presentation. One of the hosts of the program, Svetlana Lukic, says that the men, identified as members of an organization called Srbske Dveri, "did not swear or insult anyone", but that they "loudly protested", while more than two hundred citizens present reacted against such behavior and "their verbal violence". Another disturbance took place shortly before the promotion started, when an anonymous caller told the organizers that a bomb had been planted at the premises. The tip-off turned out to be false.
