Former district prosecutor Rade Terzic has been released from custody at Belgrade District Prison Thursday. A spokeswoman for the court, Maja Kovacevic, told journalists that all the proposed witnesses had been questioned, but that the prosecutor's office had called for further witnesses to be interviewed. Former prosecutor released from custody She said that even though the investigative judge had recommended that Terzic be released from custody, the prosecutor's office did not agree, and had asked for more time to speak to witnesses, fearing they would be intimidated if Terzic was set free. Terzic is suspected of helping grant releases from prison to members of the Zemun Clan criminal group, involved in a number of high profile crimes in Serbia including the murder of Zoran Djindjic. He was arrested on July 20 on suspicion of abusing his office as district prosecutor. A month after his arrest, the prosecutor's office called for his custody to be extended so that more witnesses in the case could be questioned.
