Police have detained Nikola R.,19, suspected of having physically assaulted Indjija mayor Goran Jesic (DS). “Nikola R. from Indjija was arrested late Friday and brought before an investigative judge with the Indjija Municipal Court on suspicion of having committed a criminal act, and was remanded in custody for eight days,” police said in a statement released today. Man detained over Indjija mayor assault The statement went on to say the investigation found that Nikola R. physically and verbally attacked the mayor and his wife at 11:45 p.m. Thursday while they were walking down the street. Jesic’s car was also damaged in the incident. Jesic told B92 Friday about the details of the incident. “Around 11:40 p.m. Thursday, my wife and I were attacked while walking home from the cinema. A man tried to punch both of us with his fists and feet, by failed to to that. He was visibly drunk,” he said. “He then ran towards the parking lot and completely destroyed our family car,” Jesic explained.
