Hague: Delić, Milošević trials continue
The evidence is supposed to take three working days. Deeming the witness to be “a very important one,” the Trial Chamber asked that his evidence not be restricted and that provisions be made for it to continue after the summer recess, if necessary. The same Trial Chamber had made drastic cuts to the prosecution witness list and the time allotted for their questioning. At this moment, it is unclear whether the witness will testify under a pseudonym with voice and image distortion, or whether the whole evidence will be taken in closed session.
The defense of General Milošević, former commander of the VRS Sarajevo-Romanija Corps, will enter the final stage next week.
The defense has four days this week and four days after the court recess—August 21 to the 24—to examine its witnesses and present its evidence.
Closing arguments have been scheduled for October 8 and 9. General Milošević is on trial for the artillery and sniper terror campaign in Sarajevo from August 1994 until the end of the war in Bosnia.
Of the remaining five trials, four have already started the summer recess (Srebrenica, Herceg Bosna, KLA crimes and Macedonian police’s raid on Ljuboten).
The fifth trial (Serbian forces’ crimes in Kosovo) has been adjourned until August 6, when the defense case is due to begin.
