Petković responded by saying he could not remember sending out his teams around the time given in the indictment, nor receiving any report mentioning the dead bodies.

He said Suva Reka was quiet around that time, as well as that he was unaware of any police action in the area, which, according to the indictment, ended with the deaths of 48 Albanian civilians.

The witness also said the first time he had heard about the tragedy of the Berisha family was in 2005.

The Belgrade court has indicted former special police units commander Radoslav Mitrović for the crime, along with former Suva Reka police station commander Radojko Repanović, his assistant Nenad Jovanović, police officers Slađan Čukarić, Miroslav i Zoran Petković, Ramiz Papić, and former state security (DB) member Milorad Nišavić.
