President of Croatian Parliament Bozo Petrov says the reaction of Belgrade to Croatian objections to the opening of Chapter 26 was completely inappropriate.

He expressed the hope that, as he said, Serbia will soon realize that there are certain conditions to be met to be able to join the EU.

"I'd like to ask them, how was Croatia supposed to react, should we have reacted that way every time when we experienced, not resistance, but suggestions about what should be done," said Petrov.

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said earlier that Serbia can easily meet the required criteria for the opening of Chapter 26 on education and culture and that he is not a political problem.

She also said that all countries must meet all the criteria in the negotiations and that it was also done by Croatia.

Croatia on Monday blocked the opening of Chapter 26, after which the Serbian delegation left Brussels. Prime Minister Vucic will thus not attend the intergovernmental conference with the EU.
