Polls opened in Croatia for parliamentary elections on Sunday. Croats are hoping to form a government that will lead the country out of the growing economic crisis and into the EU in 2013. Parliamentary elections kick off in Croatia Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor told reporters after voting she believed the people would elect those who would continue fighting corruption and that they would be at the head of the government when Croatia becomes a member of the EU. Kosor hopes the cooperation with President Ivo Josipovic will be better in the future. Josipovic stated after casting his vote he hoped the cooperation with the new government would be even better, regardless of who formed it. According to him, Croatia needs a government that will tackle the economic crisis without hesitation and solve other numerous problems. Social Democratic Party leader and the Kukuriku coalition's candidate for a prime minister Zoran Milovanovic said after his visit to the polls that he believed in victory. Surveys show that the Kukuriku coalition could win between 79 and 85 seats, which is enough for a majority in the parliament, since it has 151 seats. Their main adversary, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), is likely to get 38-45 seats, which will be the party's worst defeat in its history if the prognosis comes true. There are 4,092, 323 voters in Croatia, of which 374,800 are members of national minorities. Zagreb
