Republic of Srpska (RS) Prime Minister Milorad Dodik says he is not surprised by calls for his resignation from Bosnian presidency member Zeljko Komsic. “Komsic made the same demands two years ago and didn’t get anything, which is why it is pointless to comment on his latest calls to the Office of the High Representative and High Representative Valentin Inzko,” Dodik said. Dodik: Resignation calls no surprise On Thursday, Komsic called on Inzko to dismiss Dodik and bar him from political activity because of “violations of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Constitution and the Dayton Peace Accords.” Komsic submitted the request in reaction to Dodik’s call to Serb members of the Bosnia-Herzegovina armed forces not to participate in the NATO exercise in Georgia. Milorad Dodik (FoNet, archive) U.S embassy criticizes Dodik The U.S. has condemned Dodik’s call for Serb soldiers not to participate in NATO military exercises in Georgia. “Dodik’s statement constitute a direct and unacceptable questioning of an institution that is of key importance for Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and the Dayton Peace Accords. Dodik’s claim that Bosnia’s decision to participate in the exercises is political is absolutely wrong,” the American embassy in Sarajevo stated. It added that, a little over a year ago, the Bosnia-Herzegovina presidency, which is the supreme commander of the Bosnian armed forces, approved participation in these exercise, which are a key part of the Defense Ministry’s training plan for 2009. The embassy stated that Dodik “regularly stresses his orientation and support for the Dayton Peace Accords.” “Yesterday’s statements seriously call into question the possibility of the international community concluding with certainty that the government of the Republic of Srpska prime minister is ready to fully respect the Dayton Peace Accords, and that it is ready to refrain from rhetoric and activities that could be a threat to and violation of the Dayton Peace Accords,” the statement concludes.
