The 16th anniversary of the deaths of 109 Bosnian Serb civilians was marked on Sunday in Bjelovac, eastern Bosnia. The Serbs were killed by armed Muslim formations from Srebrenica, commanded by Naser Oric. B. Serb victims remembered in Bjelovac The onslaught on Bjelovac, located on the left bank of the Drina River in the Republic of Srpska, also resulted in 78 wounded civilians. Strong Muslim forces attacked this Serb village at dawn on December 14, 1992, moving from the neighboring villages of Pirici and Poloznik, to commit the biggest single-day crime against Bosnia's Serbs in the 1992-95 war. Bjelovac was completely destroyed, with 350 homes and other structures damaged and set on fire. Whole families perished in the rampage, including Slavka Matic's husband and two daughters. No one has been brought to justice for this and other crimes committed against the Serbs living in the Bratunac and Srebrenica area, where 1,500 of them were killed in 1992 and 1993. The Hague Tribunal on July 3, 2008 acquitted Oric of all charges, and explained that his command responsibility had not been proven.
