State Administration and Local Self-Government Minister Ana Brnabic has denied the claim that 800,000 extra names had been included into the register of voters.

Minister rejects claim about "800K extra registered voters"

According to Brnabic, the latter suffers from shortcomings, "mostly because it was done locally before the law was passed in 2012."

She said the mistakes in those registers transfered to the unified one, which has since been updated.

"Such as it is, it is better updated than any in the past," she said.

As for diaspora voters, Brnabic said that those citizens register if they wish to vote, but that a polling station is not opened unless there are enough voters in a location.

"That's the way it's always been and there you have a certain number of voters, that is, discrepancies between the voter register, the census, and the turnout. So it seems to me that some things that cannot be compared are being compared," the minister concluded.
