The First Basic Court in Belgrade has ruled in favor of Dragan Sutanovac in a defamation case he brought against Bratislav Gasic.

One former defense minister wins lawsuit against another

Gasic, who is now an official of the ruling SNS, made the comment while he served as defense minister. Sutanovac, now the leader of the opposition DS, was defense minister in 2009 - when Gasic said he "bought a device without the knowledge of the military security agency VBA and eavesdropped on his colleagues, including Tadic."

Gasic also accused Sutanovac of selling off Serbian Army property to his friends, relatives, and people favored "along party lines."

In a statement carried by Beta, the DS said this was "one in a series of (defamation) lawsuits that Sutanovac has won."

Sutanovac posted an image of the ruling on Twitter, which shows that he sued for RSD 4,000,000 and that the court partially accepted his claim.

Sutanovac accompanied the tweet with the following message: "Here's the ruling, Gasic spoke untruths that I eavesdropped on Tadic and sold off military property, the court punished him!!"
