Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Wednesday in Moscow received an award of the International Fund of Unity of Orthodox Peoples.

"I take this award as a recognition of everything Serbia has done so far, and an obligation for the future," he said during the ceremony.

In the future as well, we will contribute to affirming Christian, Orthodox and pan-Slavic virtues, and through them promote civilizational values, the Serbian president said, adding:

"And I will never give up, my faith in God and love toward all of you is and will be a lasting value and an inexhaustible source of strength."

Also on Wednesday, Nikolic met with Patriarch Kirill who said the Serbian president "had long ago deserved the award as during his entire life and career he has been affirming Christian values and friendly, brotherly ties with Russia."

"Russians and Serbians have been and will always be inextricably bound together," Nikolic said, underscoring Serbia's support for Russia's role in the fight against international terrorism and efforts to restore good relations with Europe.
