The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations on Tuesday offered to help Serbia in dealing with the aftermath of this week's flooding, TASS has reported.

Russia offers to help Serbia fight floods

Puchkov addressed the Serbian Ministry of the Interior to say that the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations was concerned after learning about the flooding, adding that "the Serbian people are in a complex situation."

"The ministry's experts together with representatives of the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center (in southern Serbia) are actively cooperating to minimize the damage and avoid any victims," the Russian official said.

Puchkov added that his ministry has prepared two Il-76 transport planes and an MMB Bo-105 helicopter, and well as rescue crews.

"We have 100 people and 16 units of equipment ready," the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a statement.

The Serbian MUP announced on Tuesday that an emergency situation was declared in 15 municipalities, where 154 people have been evacuated from a total of 710 flooded households.

Also on Tuesday, Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic said the floods will be declared a natural disaster.
