Refugees accommodated "closer to the highway" will be able to receive "transportation, food, and other necessary services there," Vulin said, stressing this will be a temporary center, while "permanent facilities will not be built."

According to the minister, "refugees but also Serbia's European integration" will be discussed today by Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic and German Chancellor Angela Merkel during their meeting that will, as he stressed, "come at Merkel's request."

"This will be the prime minister's fifth meeting this year with the chancellor and that shows that the significance of our state has increased very much in all EU countries and in Germany," said Vulin, adding that he "does not think that some new measures related to refugees will be demanded during the meeting," considering that Serbia is working on that "flawlessly."

Vulin said the country was doing "everything within the power of an organized state facing a refugee crisis, without major incidents," but added Serbia "necessitates EU's financial assistance because the state's reserves are running out."

"Single solution"

There must be "a single solution" and Serbia must be allowed to take part in the distribution of European funds together with EU countries, but also in achieving a political solution, Aleksandar Vulin stated on Sunday.

Commenting on former French President Nicolas Sarkozy's idea to open reception centers for refugees "in North Africa, Serbia or Bulgaria," Vulin said that Serbia expects a solution to be reached as soon as possible, but added that the first step would have to imply looking for a solution where the problem arose - in Syria and North Africa.

Without peace in those countries, the migration issue will never be solved, said Vulin, who is also "coordinator of the working group to tackle challenges posed by mixed migration flows," Tanjug reported.

"The issue of migration should be addressed at the level of entire EU, we cannot resolve this on our own. Serbia did not cause the problem and will not solve it if it acts as a very good transit country," the minister told journalists in Pozarevac, where he attended the Ljubicevo Equestrian Games.

"This has to be a single solution, and Serbia has to take part in achieving a political solution. Otherwise, everything will be doomed to failure," Vulin concluded.
