An agreement was reached on Wednesday in Novi Sad to form a political bloc led by Boris Tadić that will take part in early elections in March.

Tadić puts together pre-election alliance

Čedomir Jovanović's Liberal Democrats (LDP) was also invited to the meeting, but LSV Vice-President Bojan Kostreš said that party informed them its representatives would not attend.

Kostreš also confirmed that the newly formed coalition includes Tadić's party, the LSV, and the ZZS, and said that talks were ongoing with several others, including Ugljanin.

Tadić last week left the Democratic Party (DS), where he was honorary president. Several days later, the former Serbian president announced he would take part in the upcoming elections.

In the meanwhile, a number of DS officials also decided to leave the party.
