NOVI SAD Representatives of four councilor groups filed a request for an emergency session of the Novi Sad City Assembly and dismissal of Mayor Igor Pavlicic on Tuesday. The request was submitted by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Roma Democratic Party, Serbian Renewal Movement, Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), five former councilors of Dveri and one councilor of None of the Above. Request for Novi Sad mayor’s dismissal submitted “We have filed the request, we want an early session with 15 items on the agenda and the most important of them is the mayor’s dismissal. We have contacted the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) and we should have a first meeting today. I do not expect the decision to be made today but I do expect to have the majority before the session is called,” SNS Novi Sad Board President Milos Vucevic said on Tuesday. Three SPO councilors decided to leave the current ruling coalition led by the Democratic Party (DS) on Friday. The SNS, SPO and Roma Democratic Party signed a memorandum on joint political action in the Novi Sad city assembly on Saturday. The parties and groups that support the request have a total of 35 seats in the assembly and they need at least 40 in order to secure the majority in the 78-seat assembly.
