SMEDEREVSKA PALANKA The result of the forthcoming session of the Democratic Party (DS) Main Board will disappoint many people, but not the members of the party, Dragan Djilas says. "Those who want the DS to split will be disappointed. It is on all of us holding senior positions to find a way to lead the party together," the DS deputy leader said at an annual meeting of DS' municipal board in the central Serbian town of Smederevska Palanka on Thursday. DS will not break up, deputy leader claims DS deputy leader Dragan Sutanovac said that both DS leader Boris Tadic and Djilas were important for Serbia and that opposition party. "We heard a crystal clear message today from Dragan Djilas that we are going to carry on together," Sutanovac told Tanjug, rejecting media claims that he had chosen Djilas's side in an alleged conflict with Tadic. The media speculated that Djilas, who is trying to take over Tadic's position, was joined by Sutanovac as well, after DS deputy leader Bojan Pajtic, and that only Dusan Petrovic remained loyal to Tadic among the top officials of the DS. Sutanovac said he found it most important that the DS should come out before the people with clear messages and a clear program and he pointed out that the DS had held conferences and elected different leaders on a number of occasions before. "There will definitely be some changes, I suppose in the top ranks of the party as well, in the Presidency. But that should not concern the people too much, because we have always come out stronger from that," he noted. Sutanovac stressed that no one was betraying anyone in the DS, but on the contrary "solutions were being sought, which should improve the party's work and bring the DS to the helm of the government as soon as possible, which will have a crystal clear pro-European direction," The annual meeting was also attended Sutanovac, DS Executive Board President Marko Djurisic and DS Youth President Balsa Bozovic.
