The number of Serbian citizens seeking asylum in Germany reached 324 in July, reads a statement by the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.

BERLIN The number of Serbian citizens seeking asylum in Germany reached 324 in July, reads a statement by the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. This is more than in June when the German authorities received 199 such requests. Number of Serbian asylum seekers increases Serbia ranked sixth in June, while in July it was the fifth most common country of origin of asylum seekers, behind Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran, the data of the service showed as reported by the German Interior Ministry. However, Kosovo, which is analyzed separately from Serbia, showed a declining tendency in the number of asylum requests sent to Germany. The citizens of Kosovo filed a total of 152 requests in July, and thus ended on the ninth spot, after fifth-ranked Serbia, Pakistan, Macedonia, and the Russian Federation. The number of asylum requests from Kosovo in June was 156 placing it on the seventh spot. In July, Germany received a total of 4,498 requests, which is 15.3 percent more than in June, and 30.8 percent more than in July 2011, show the latest data of the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees.
