Northern Kosovo Serbs started a protest ride toward the Brnjak and Jarinje administrative crossings with central Serbia on Friday. Serbs from the entire northern Kosovo are protesting against the Kosovo authorities’ decision to ban the use of Serbian license plates. Kosovo Serbs protest against license plates ban They are planning on handing over a protest letter to EULEX and KFOR representatives at the crossings. They expressed their dissatisfaction over the ban in the letter and called for respect of the UN Security Council Resolution 1244. The northern Kosovo Serbs pointed out that realistic situation in the north needed to be respected and that all issues needed to be solved in a peaceful manner. The letter will also be handed over to UNMIK and the Serbian authorities. EULEX officers are performing routine traffic control at the Brnjak and Jarinje crossings and presence of KFOR troops has been increased. (file) B92
