Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said Thursday that Kosovo could not be defended on barricades, but with a wise policy instead. He added that any solution for the province would be better than the current, very difficult situation. Minister: Serbia should defend Kosovo with wise policy “It can no longer continue like this - we have no position about anything, including Kosovo or the Pride Parade,” Dacic stressed. He said that KFOR and the international community were simply going out of their way to defend the wishes of Pristina and Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci. “If they respected the wishes of Albanians, they will have to treat Serbs equally,” he said. “Serbia has not stopped the negotiations and dialogue with Pristina,” Dacic noted. The interior minister added that the Kosovo problem needed to be the topic of "virtual conversations" and that there was no awareness of the real situation on the ground. He also rejected explanations that the international community and Pristina’s moves in northern Kosovo were aimed at combating crime. “Reducing the issue of northern Kosovo to the problem of crime is nonsense. Crime in Pristina is widespread, so why did they not put barbed wire there,” Dacic said. “KFOR's obligation is to protect people, whether Serbs or Albanians,” the minister concluded.
