Purda announces suit against Serbia

Tihomir Purda, who was arrested on a Serbian warrant for war crimes committed in Vukovar, has announced that he will sue Serbia because of the arrest. He spent almost two months in Bosnia-Herzegovina detention early in 2011. Purda announces suit against Serbia Purda said that his lawyer was working on this matter already and that paperwork was being done, the Croatian Radio Television (HRT) reported. Purda was arrested at the Orasje border crossing in Bosnia-Herzegovina on an international warrant which the Croatian authorities have known about for three years now. Upon arrest, he was kept in detention for almost two months, until Serbia renounced charges against him. Many Serbs whom Croatia charged with war crimes but who were exempt from investigation or trial because competent bodies established that they had not committed the crimes they were charged with, cannot achieve their right to damages as they are considered guilty of participation in armed rebellion.
