A vast majority of the government’s senior officials supports the work being done by Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, daily Vecernje novosti writes. The daily stated that most on the government believes that Jeremic is doing a good job defending the state policies and that his position as the foreign minister would not be questioned. FM “speaks for whole govt.” He led a united policy, and this diplomatic battle would continue, the daily stated. That is the united stance of the government ministers of the ruling coalition, a number of ministers told the daily when asked whether they stand behind the state policies towards Kosovo or if they see Jeremic as having a special obligation towards it. President Boris Tadic also defended Jeremic from attacks coming from the opposition. “Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic should not be blamed for the ICJ decision, because he is not the author of the policies, and implemented these ideas very well. These ideas came from my cabinet and Jeremic operationalized them with a huge amount of energy,” Tadic said. Speculation in the media that Jeremic would be meeting with Tadic so that a decision would be made on whether he should resign from his position turned out to be false. In fact, nothing but support has come from Jeremic’s colleagues in the government, while the strongest opposition to his remaining the foreign minister continues to come from the leading oppositional party, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
