European Foreign Affairs and Security Policies Chief Catherine Ashton stated that the EU expects dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and is ready to help. It was a great success for Serbian President Boris Tadic to present to the UN General Assembly a text supported by all 27 EU member-states, she told a press conference after an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers. EU expects dialogue to begin She also commended the role of the EU, which worked together as a team despite differences in stances regarding the recognition of Kosovo’s unilaterally proclaimed independence. Ashton avoided answering a question of whether the cooperation between the EU and Serbia, which resulted in the resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly, would speed up the process of forwarding Serbia's application for EU candidate status to the European Commission.
