Serbia is open to changes to its UN General Assembly draft Kosovo resolution, First Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic has said. According to Dacic, who spoke on Friday in Trgoviste, southern Serbia, Belgrade submitted its own draft "because there was information that other interested parties were preparing resolutions". "Serbia open to changes to UN GA draft" "It was important for us to submit the draft first, because it will be put up for a vote first, and if it's approved, other drafts will not be put up at all. Serbia is open to changing the wording, for agreements and conversations," said Dacic. According to him, FM Vuk Jeremic informed the government that the resolution was discussed before it was submitted, and with "partners in the EU, U.S., Russia and China". "But, clearly, there was no agreement on the text of the resolution. Serbia has said many times that it is ready to find a compromise text of the resolution. We are ready for everything, except that the text shows that it would be the end of the issue of Kosovo, and that would mean that the status of Kosovo had been solved," said the minister. Dacic also commented on statements coming from ethnic Albanians in southern parts of Serbia about their endangered rights, by saying that he would "not wish on them to have the same rights that Serbs in Kosovo have". The largest party of the ruling coalition in Serbia, the Democratic Party (DS), also made a statement on the UN GA resolution draft. DS spokeswoman Jelena Trivan said in Belgrade late on Friday that speculation that the so-called Quint countries were offering speedier EU integration in exchange for the softening of Serbia's resolution on Kosovo was - inappropriate. Such a thing, Trivan said, would mean "bargaining with national interests".
