EULEX deputy chief Roy Reeve stated that EULEX will not send its special forces to northern Kosovo, Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti reported on Monday. Kosovo Albanian interim government representatives said previously that they would send "special police units" to northern, Serb parts of Kosovo, and that they had an agreement with the EU mission that enabled them to do so. "EULEX won't send special police to north" Reeve also said that EULEX "has participated in the investigation into the latest incidents in Kosovska Mitrovica from the beginning". He stressed that EULEX investigators have participated in the interviews which immediately followed the bomb attack that killed one person during a peaceful Serb protest, and the attack on a Kosovo assembly member, but did not wish to specify the latest findings in the investigation which, as he said, was confidential. When asked whether the opening of the District Court in northern Kosovska Mitrovica can be expected even though the Serbian side is against it, Reeve said that negotiations with the Serbian Justice Ministry were under way, without specifying the details concerning the laws which would be implemented, the election of judges and the determination of the court's jurisdictions.
