Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said that reconciliation between the people and countries of the Western Balkans is vital. His statement comes one day before the 15th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide will be commemorated in Bosnia-Herzegovina, at which Serbian President Boris Tadic would be present. PM calls for reconciliation ahead of Srebrenica anniversary Cvetkovic said that cooperation on a regional level must come before the countries will be able to cooperate within the European Union. “Reconciliation should not be anyone’s formal demand, because it is something we simply cannot function without, as a country and as people,” Cvetkovic said in light of the Srebrenica commemoration. He said that reconciliation in the region is not only a question of the country’s international credibility, but a completely practical prerequisite for the citizens of the region to begin communicating and cooperating normally.
