A Belgrade court has acquitted Trade Minister Slobodan Milosavljevic in the procedure initiated by the State Audit Institution (DRI). This was announced on Monday by Acting President of the Belgrade Misdemeanor Court Milan Marinovic. DRI appeal after minister's acquittal The first-instance ruling was followed by the DRI's appeal delivered to the court a few days ago, and consequently the case will be forwarded to the High Magistrates Court, which is to render the final decision, Marinovic added. He said that the period in which the High Magistrates Court should decide on the DRI appeal is not proscribed by law. The DRI submitted a demand for the proceeding to be initiated on February 18 believing that Milosavljevic's ministry did not book properly the funds it used. The DRI said they believed that the payoff of 17 photographs for a monograph should have been booked as purchase and not as service. Ten more former and current ministers and eight other state officials are waiting to be tried for similar offenses, and former minister of education Zoran Loncar is scheduled to appear before a judge on Tuesday.
