FM: No one attending Josipović inauguration

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić said that no Serbian officials will be attending the inauguration of new Croatian President Ivo Josipović.

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said that no Serbian officials will be attending the inauguration of new Croatian President Ivo Josipovic. “The Croatian president has made his decision. He chose Kosovo officials, not Serbian officials,” Jeremic told Radio Television Serbia. FM: No one attending Josipovic inauguration He added that because of the invitation extended to Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu to attend the inauguration, there will be no Serbian government officials present at the event. He explained that “in the moment when the Croatian president was deciding who to invite to the inauguration, it was clearly stated to the Croatian side that there will be no Serbian officials present if officials of so-called Kosovo were there.” Jeremic said that whether or not relations between Serbia and Croatia will improve depends on Zagreb. “We are ready to cooperate on all questions. We want the best possible relations with Croatia, but not at the price of being degraded, or, God forbid, the recognition of Kosovo, and that would be the consequence if a Serbian official was to attend an inauguration organized in such a way,” Jeremic said.

He added that because of the invitation extended to Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu to attend the inauguration, there will be no Serbian government officials present at the event.

He explained that “in the moment when the Croatian president was deciding who to invite to the inauguration, it was clearly stated to the Croatian side that there will be no Serbian officials present if officials of so-called Kosovo were there.”

Jeremić said that whether or not relations between Serbia and Croatia will improve depends on Zagreb.
