The Vojvodina statute will be proclaimed at a Vojvodina assembly session on December 14, Assembly Speaker Sandor Egeresi said. He said that he expects that the needed accompanying laws on property and financing will be adopted soon, which Egeresi said are needed in order for the decentralization process to be strengthen. Statute to be proclaimed on Dec. 14 He said that the statute represents the “current maximum” which can secure conditions for the effective economic development of Vojvodina, preserving the identity of the national community and developing the province as a modern, civil, and European region. Egeresi said that he is “very proud” of the adopted law for national councils, stating that they create the needed institutional framework for strengthening and preserving the national identity of national communities that live in Vojvodina. “This law is a sign of progress in every aspect and can be used as a good example to many European countries,” he added.
