None of them did. I think we were successful, maybe more successful than anyone had expected,” said Jeremic. “We have to keep working intensively on that,” he stressed. The secretary general's new report, which covers the period from June 1 to Sepember 15, commends UNMIK's efforts to encourage dialogue and cooperation between the communities in Kosovo, and between Belgrade and Pristina. The meeting will also be attended by Kosovo's foreign policy chief Skender Hyseni. In the secretary-general’s report published two weeks ago, Ban called on all parties in Kosovo to show restraint and be constructive in resolving their sensitive inter-ethnic issues. The report noted the low number of returnees, stating that 236 people, including seven Albanians, 31 Serbs and 177 Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians had returned in June and July this year. Ban called on all political parties taking part in the November local elections to steer clear of “belligerent rhetoric“ that ran the risk of triggering violence, especially in the north of the province.
