The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has called for a confirmation of the sequence of actions and distribution of obligations for improving media-related laws. LDP leader Cedomir Jovanovic was asked by daily Politika whether his party will still vote for the Public Information Law on August 31, and whether the adoption of the law would be followed by an immediate proposal of new changes to the laws. Party wants urgent action on media laws He said that the “steps that follow will not include the plugging of holes created or hidden by these changes in the laws.” “This will be something that is in a completely different dimension in relation to this law as far as solutions are concerned and the way in which they are prepared,” Jovanovic said. He said that the future widespread and serious changes to the information law will depend on expert proposals, and also proposals from professionals and international organizations. “Ignoring journalists and the expert public has complicated and destroyed the necessary initiative for organizing and improving the media scene, which is convenient only for those that want to make Serbia into the most unhappy European country. They are against any kind of law and order,” Jovanovic said.
