The Serbian parliament on Wednesday ended a general debate on the draft law on the protection of personal data and on anti-corruption laws.

The Serbian parliament on Wednesday ended a general debate on the draft law on the protection of personal data and on anti-corruption laws. MPs will continue work later in the day, it was announced. Parliament ends anti-corruption laws debate The legislation in question relates to seizures of property stemming from criminal activities, responsibility of legal entities for criminal acts, the anti-corruption agency and changes to the Law on Financing Political Parties. Additionally, parliament debated a protocol for the Convention on the Protection of Individuals related to automatic processing of personal data regarding supervisory authorities and trans-border data flows. Concluding the debate, Justice Minister Snezana Malovic said that her ministry would consider in detail amendments to these draft bills and propose to the government to back those that offer better solutions, "regardless of who tabled the amendments". Malovic reiterated that these laws are very important in the fight against corruption, but also for the easing of the visa regime imposed on Serbia by the EU - the placement of Serbia on the so-called White Schengen List. Earlier in the day, parliament adopted an agenda of 14 of the 27 proposed items, leaving out a draft resolution on Kosovo drafted by 108 Serb Radical Party (SRS) and Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) MPs, as well as the Liberal Democratic Party’s resolution on Kosovo.
