Olli Rehn has urged Serbian politicians to refrain from comparing the Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina situations. The European Enlargement Commissioner said that Kosovo was a unique situation and that he expected all neighboring countries to behave appropriately in regards to Bosnia-Herzegovina and its police reforms. Rehn: Kosovo and Bosnia separate issues Rehn said that it was important for Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Republic of Srpska (RS) to have good relations with Serbia, through cooperation within the regional council and the CEFTA agreement. “There are certain weaknesses within the Bosnian structure. There is no justification for terminating police reforms, which are an important part of implementing the rule of law and a functional judicial system,” Rehn said. He added that it was also a necessary prerequisite for initialing the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU. Dodik: Serbia doesn’t need Albanians in government Bosnian Serb Prime Minister Milorad Dodik told RS TV in Banja Luka on Monday that Albanians should not be allowed to hold positions of power in Serbia, media reported on Tuesday. “I am saying this for the first time, but I don’t believe it would be good for Serbia if the Albanians stayed there, to be incorporated into the political life of that country, as it would then generate long-term instability,” Dodik said. Moreover, he said it would be impossible for Serbia to lose part of its territories without receiving something in return. “The international community is annoyed by the fact that Serbia has not given up Kosovo,” Dodik said. He rejected any connection between the Kosovo talks and the latest political crisis in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
