Interior Minister Dragan Jocic (DSS) saluted a new generation of police academy cadets in Belgrade Tuesday. Jocic said addressing the MUP's future finest criminal investigators and policemen, that their generation, with its potential, personnel and material resources, represents a basic strategic drive behind the police reform. Minister attends police academy ceremony The minister called on cadets to see to their duties toward Serbia and the country's territorial integrity. "Love and protect your fatherland, its valiant tradition, its culture, while Serbian citizens, whose pride and guardians you are, will know how to respect that," Jocic said. "May God be with you. I wish you all the luck and success," Jocic said. He continued that police reform does not pertain only to laws and norms, but also to people. "We cannot change the old, but we can and will build the new," the minister told cadets gathered for today's ceremony. Jocic emphasized that Serbia cannot be divided, while each of its parts and every citizen are equally important, and called on future police officers to guard the safety of their country and all its citizens. This year, more than 1,200 young people applied for the 120 slots at the Academy, with 500 of those having earned top grades in high school.
