Hungarian and Serbian presidents Laszlo Solyom and Boris Tadic agreed to launch a twin citizenship plan for Hungarians. According to Tadic, Serbia supports the idea of dual citizenship for Vojvodina's largest ethnic minority because he considers it a good way to break down borders and bind members of the same nation. Dual citizenship for Serbia's Hungarians Tadic said that as people in this part of Europe live together, a common European political culture was very important, and that all barriers to achieving this should be removed. "The possibility of cooperation between Serbs and Hungarians should be opened, but we have to find a solution for our citizens, those members of the Hungarian ethnic community living in Serbia, so that they can travel to Hungary with a minimum of difficulty," said Tadic after a meeting in Subotica. He thinks the same principle should be applied in other regional states. "And somehow, borders wouldn't be so important . People would be allowed to travel from one side to the other. The same way, a significant and inclusive political culture could be adopted," said the President. Solyom said he was glad that Tadic agreed with the principle of the culture of a united nation, regardless of where the citizens of that nation lived. The Serbian president thanked his Hungarian counterpart for his principled position on Kosovo. Solyom and Tadic (Tanjug)
