"Serbia, U.S. should cooperate over Kosovo"

Reminding that Serbia's position on Kosovo was contrary to that of the U.S., he said that Serbia wanted to “cooperate with the U.S. in order to find a solution that would guarantee peace in the region.”

Jeremić said that Serbia's position should not come as a surprise since no country in the world would give up its territorial integrity.

With the visit to Portugal that currently presides over the European Union, the Serbian Foreign Minister ended his four-day European tour, during which he paid a visit to Madrid, Vienna and Ljubljana.

“UN resolution is not the only option for Kosovo”

Special Representative of Portugal’s Foreign Ministry Antonio Tanger Correa has stated Thursday in Priština that “there may be other possibilities of solving the status of Kosovo, if the issue cannot be settled in the UN Security Council.”

“Do not be disappointed in case there was no new resolution in place. I do not think it is a catastrophe. Quite the contrary, we have a solution that we will soon adopt within the Contact Group,” Correa said after he met with Kosovo president Fatmir Sejdiu.

Correa added that Portugal, whose six-month presidency of the European Union ends on December 31, was oriented towards solving the status issue, stressing that Portuguese president, prime minister and foreign minister were “tremendously committed to the process.”
