Ahtisaari's spokesman Remi Dourlot said earlier today that the UN Security Council member states would today be officially presented with the package containing Ahtisaari’s report and the status proposal for the future of Kosovo.

“Martti Ahtisaari won’t personally appear today in New York. The UN special envoy awaits an official invitation from the Security Council,” Dourlot said.

He added that the exact date of the UN Security Council session dedicated to Ahtisari’s proposal was not yet known. He reminded that April 3 was the most probable date.

“The proposal package will be known to the member states as of today, and it will be submitted to the European Union and NATO as well,” Dourlot confirmed.

In the meantime, Belgrade announced to launch a “diplomatic offensive” the moment UN SC member states received the proposal. It would focus on lobbying the states to support the continuation of the negotiating process.

Serb National Council of Northern Kosovo’s chairman Milan Ivanović corroborated this stance saying that “the diplomatic initiative may have come a bit late, but it could be carried out to the fullest.”
