Russia's UN ambassador Vitaly Churkin lashed out Monday at Martti Ahtisaari's deputy during a Security Council meeting.

Russian ambassador storms out of UN SC

“I looked at him into the eyes and told him about it,” Churkin told reporters outside the Security Council chamber. “His remarks were so one-sided that I had to respond in the council.”

“It's another sign that some important people handling the situation were mishandling it,” he said, showing Russia's clearest unhappiness with Ahtisaari.

“Rather than look for some accommodations and acceptable solutions, they are jumping the gun and beginning to advocate outright independence,” Churkin said.
