The two top Bosniak leaders have rejected the high representative Miroslav Lajčak's new police reform proposal.

The two top Bosniak leaders have rejected the high representative Miroslav Lajcak's new police reform proposal. At a joint press conference held on Thursday, Haris Silajdzic and Sulejman Tihic said the draft "legalizes the current police structure and preserves the Republic of Srpska (RS) police." "By rejecting the draft proposal ... before all the major political leaders have even received it, they have demonstrated a disdain for their colleagues and the political process," he said on Friday. On Friday, EU Enlargement Commissioner Ollie Rehn criticized them as well, reiterating that “police reform is crucial to a Stabilization and Association Agreement with the Union.”

Lajčak did not hide his disappointment with Silajdžić and Tihić.

"By rejecting the draft proposal ... before all the major political leaders have even received it, they have demonstrated a disdain for their colleagues and the political process," he said on Friday.

On Friday, EU Enlargement Commissioner Ollie Rehn criticized them as well, reiterating that “police reform is crucial to a Stabilization and Association Agreement with the Union.”
