Ministers discuss Braničevo potential

They discussed NIP-funded projects for regional development, tourism and agriculture that are being realized in the area.

Đilas urged representatives of  Braničevo municipalities to prepare projects for the next year and apply for the NIP funds, bearing in mind that the 2008 draft budget has to be adopted by November 1.

He said that draft projects should aim at creating new jobs, which is seen as NIP’s goal in 2008.

Dinkić proposed that the local officials create a regional development agency, tasked with coordinating budget funds the region receives annually.

“We would be ready to provide funds and appropriate training, since only a reduction of unemployment can secure that the locals stay and work in this region,” he said.

The ministers visited a newly built water tower the construction of which was financed from NIP as part of the  water system construction project and secondary sewage network within the local communal infrastructure.

They also stopped at the Silver Lake tourist resort, stressing the important role of the area in Serbia’s the overall tourist offer.

The NIP-funded project of cleaning the lake is expected to begin in three weeks' time.
